Good News-Bad News
Good news, Wisconsin! In terms of home foreclosures, our September 2008 numbers are better than those in August. In our state, there is only one foreclosure per 1,641 housing units -- when compared with the worst ranking state in the nation, Nevada, with one foreclosure per 81 properties, we're looking pretty good. Bad news, Milwaukee! More than half of the state's foreclosures are in our city. To be precise, this is one in every 466 housing units. That is still well below the national average.
Although in some cases there is limited supply of properties, Milwaukee foreclosure properties enable investors and first-time buyers alike with an unparalleled opportunity to purchase real estate at lower-than-market rates. Whether the purchase is for an owner-occupies home or used as a investment, the lower the sale price, the more the buyer benefits.
